I can start by writing " oh la la" but that would be a lame cliche for this lovely 2 bed maison nestled in a tranquil laid back village on the Loire. The cottage and its surroundings arouses all of one's senses. My four day stay flew by with so much to explore around Mesves. Each day offered numerous activities; walks along the river close to the maison listening to bird chorus, cycling to La Charite Sur Loire, walking along pilgrim paths to a magnificent Abbey, crossing the river on picturesque iron bridge, cycling or water rafting along the river and cycling along Roman road to the world famous Sauvignon Blanc -Pouilley Fume, tasting wine at the vineyards, driving through break taking clean crisp air alongside vineyards from Pouilly to Sancerre. My biggest and best highlight was discovering one of the best Gardens in Europe. Be sure to pop into the Office de Tourism de Pouilly for the wine tours and wine tasting and tastes the various cakes in the Boulangeries at La Charite. Landlady Madame Chapelow had mentioned that the Boulangerie at the bottom of the street is the best but if you ask me they are both equally unique and offer the finest cakes and pasteries. Each evening the cottage was a warm comfort for tired feet and senses and felt like coming home to relax. I could write and write but I leave you to go visit this lovely cottage in Mesves. I am definitely going back in the autumn when the nearby Château de Chaumont hosts the International Garden Festival, which it does every year. Photo below. This year's theme is the 7 Deadly sins and I bet one of the sin is Pouilly Fume🍷
